Will To Live. Courage To Fight.
The odds of survival are thin. Pancreatic cancer is lethal. The worst survival rates of all cancers. Over 44,000 Americans will be stricken each year, over 37,000 will die. The 5-year survival rate is only 6%. Let's put that in a different perspective.
- 5 people will be diagnosed every hour.
- 4.2 people will die every hour.
- Over 220,000 new patients over 5 years.
- Over 206,800 will die each 5 years.
- Average life expectancy is 3 to 6 months after diagnosis.
But It Does Not Have To Be A Death Sentence
Pancreatic cancer is a tough foe. But there are survivors. Even some very long-term survivors. They are beacons of hope. They have stories to tell that may shed light, give others confidence and instill the will to win this fight.
They are courageous advocates that enlighten and carry strong torches of awareness. Voices that put pressure on government to increase a fair-share of research funding. A collective that will compel non-patients and corporate sponsors to throw economic might behind this war.
Give us your stories. Every voice counts.
