Dear Friends,
When I gave Carnegie Mellon University my Last Lecture, I reminded them,
"It's not about the hand you're dealt in life,
it's about how you play the game."
In September 2006, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The best thing I can say about that is I have no regrets about how I've lived my life. I've never measured my life by things or money, because what really defines my quality of life is the love and relationships I've built with family and friends.
This disease has no early detection methods, no effective treatments and no cure. For those diagnosed, 75% of them will die within one year, and less than 5% will survive for five years. Unlike other cancers, pancreatic cancer has a very small number of patient advocates, as they simply do not live long enough.
I ask that you join Roger Magowitz, Jeanne Magowitz, Ray Bojanowski, and Liz McBeth for their Annual Seena Magowitz Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic in its pursuit of helping to discover an eventual cure of pancreatic cancer. Its benevolent sponsors and volunteers are committed to advancing research, supporting patients, and creating hope for all those who have been affected by this dreadful disease.
As you take a moment now to remember the bonds you create, whether personal or professional, have the collective strength to better the lives of others. I do not know how much time I have left, but I'm going to keep enjoying every day with my wife Jai and three small children no matter how many or how few of those days I get.

On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch gave his famous Last Lecture called "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" at Carnegie Mellon University. Sadly, Randy lost his battle to pancreatic cancer on July 25th, 2008, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all, for generations to come.The Seena Magowitz Foundation is indeed fortunate to have the ongoing advocacy support of Jai Pausch, Randy's widow.
