Authentic Native American Jewelry Creations

Our Native American category only presents genuine creations crafted by Native American artisans of the Southwest. It includes authentic jewelry designed and made by members of the Navajo, Zuni, Hopi, and Pueblo Indian Tribes. Items may be Vintage Collectibles or Contemporary, yet is all wearable, unique art. Vintage can range from the late 1800s through the 1980s including the Fred Harvey Era of Southwest tourism (1900-1955).

Vintage Collectibles

Age cannot be accurately estimated unless the piece is date-stamped directly on the silver. Silver will oxidize and develop patina over time which usually increases value to a collector. Generally we will not clean and polish vintage pieces. Each buyer can choose to self-clean and polish to preferred degree to restore brightness as close as possible to its original condition.

Some items were intended to be worn as adornment and considered protectors of health and symbols of faith, hope, strength, and courage. Others were created as ‘portable assets” used for trading and often pawned for emergency cash. When not redeemed on time, trading posts and pawnshops resold the pawned art. Such items were referred to as “Old Pawn”. Expect some evidence of previous wear or handling.

Modern and Contemporary Wearable Art

More modern items are generally created post 1990 up to present day. Some items were kept as adornment or sold to buyers. Some items have never been worn and will be defined while most are previously worn. All pieces will show normal wear condition. Anything beyond normal wear will be described. Please view all photos (vintage and modern) carefully. Click enlarge thumbnail photos. Photos will approximate actual size. Some photos will be enlarged to better depict condition. Items are never retouched to cover-up potential flaws. The buyer will receive jewelry described and depicted in the pictures. Photo props are not included in the sale price.

Real Sterling Silver

Items of metal are exclusively mad of Solid Sterling Silver and or Solid Gold unless specified otherwise. In some cases sterling silver may be gold plated. Sterling is described as .925 which means it it 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper hardening alloy. Pieces are most often hallmarked as sterling on the silver. Gold items will be specified as 10K, 14K, or 18K. All items are tested for authenticity.

Stones, Weights, and Measurements

Where known we list weights of silver and any stones separately or combined when known. The type of stone(s) will be specified. All listed measurements and weights may vary slightly from specified. Where known, all stones are described with carat weight and size. Photo colors will vary slightly since all digital monitor types and color calibrations differ.

As-Is Condition

All items, whether new or vintage are sold as-is and not returnable unless we make an error in the description. Unless otherwise indicated, items are presumed “preowned” and will show some previous wear and may have some slight worn or created imperfections. Where inclusions are obvious, we will list them.
