Non-Cash Donation Guidelines
IRS Regulations On In-Kind Donations
Tangible charitable in-kind gifts are tax deductible. However, as a 501C Non-Profit Organization, IRS regulations do not permit us to provide certified values of in-kind gifts. Deemed market value of the gift must be determined by the donor within IRS regulations It is important to note that the value of time and service cannot be deducted.
Our Recognition of Value Contributed
Our gratitude and appreciation is extended to all donors. Your gifts help arm physicians, scientists and medical researchers with the tools necessary to continue the fight against pancreatic cancer. All gifts are acknowledged in an appropriate and thoughtful manner with public recognition either within this website or at events.
We can, and will provide written acknowledgment of in-kind gifts with a description, date of contribution and an expression of retail value of products gifted. Frequently, the value of in-kind gifts are equally as valuable to us and our mission as cash donations.
When items are sold either online, through live auction, or silent auction the retail value expressed by the donor will be mentioned regardless of whether the gift is sold above or below that value. Some items may be used for raffle purposes of which no value can be determined.
Types of In-Kind Gifts Preferred
Items sold online. We prefer items that do not require storage or complex shipping logistics. Preferred items include vacation lodging, airline tickets, golf foursomes, sport memorabilia, gift cards, gift certificates, jewelry and similar.
Live auction items at the Annual Celebrity Golf Classic. Generally, large value items such as new vehicles, collectible paintings, and similar may be live auctioned at our annual event. Please call us to discuss these items, to make sure you are recognized in a manner that is appropriate.
Raffle items at the annual event. If you have items including golf bags, golf clubs, gift baskets, collector items, sports memorabilia and etcetera, we would prefer that you bring them to the annual event since storage space is not available prior to the event.
How Your Donations Are Used
All non-cash donations are converted to cash either via online sale, live auction or raffles. Contributors can have confidence that 100% of all net proceeds benefit pancreatic cancer research. The staff at the Seena Magowitz Foundation are all non-paid volunteers and it does not consume the expense of a brick and mortar facility. That make SMF unique among many of its foundation peers.
The Seena Magowitz Foundation is a 501(c) non-profit organization. Its Federal Tax ID Number is 20-4751072
