Howard Young's 2011 Atlanta
Golf Classic Raised Over $141,000
The 2nd Annual Howard Young Golf Classic, held October 3, 2011 raised over $141,000 for pancreatic cancer research led by Translational Genomic Research Institute (TGen).
The golf classic drew 132 golfers to the Capital City Crabapple Golf Club in Alpharetta, Georgia, kicking off the fall fund-raising drive of the Seena Magowitz Foundation.
Proceeds support TGen's international initiative to eradicate pancreatic cancer, the fourth leading cause of cancer death in America.
"I am so very pleased and humbled by the generosity of all those who participated in this second year of our golf tournament," said Howard Young, an Atlanta businessman and pancreatic cancer survivor. "As someone who is living proof of TGen's amazing patient care, I know how important these contributions are to the future success of our pancreatic cancer research."
The Atlanta Golf Classic was oversold for a second year and exceeded last year's inaugural tournament donations of $105,000. Howard Young acknowledged the efforts of the co-hosts John Morley and Tom Vitale, and his parents, Bill and Jane Young.
The Morley Cos., an Atlanta commercial restoration company, said it appreciated the strong local support the event received in a challenging economic climate.
The 3rd Annual Howard Young's Atlanta Golf Classic will be held in October, 2012. Check back later for details. If you are interested in sponsorships or would like to donate auction gifts, contact Roger Magowitz at (602) 524-7636.
